Gone Fishin'

President's weekend every year the men in my family go on "The Man Trip" to ice fish at my Nanna's cabin at Panguitch Lake.

This was Paul's 3rd year going and he finally caught a fish.  Not just one but two.  Paul has never caught a fish before so it was a pretty big deal.  I think I am more proud of him for it than he is himself.

Although I really missed him I was glad he was able to go this year and enjoy getting away from the city.

Girls Just Want to have Fun!

Saturday all the women in my family went to lunch at Famous Dave's BBQ then I went with my Mom shopping.  She was in need of some new jeans.  Later Saturday night I hung out with Dianna.  She came over to the house and I made lobster tails for the first time.  They actually turned out really good.  I was surprised   That was our appetizer before heading out.  We tried to go to Steak and Shake but the line was too long.  We decided to go to this Spanish tapas place down the street called Barcelona.  It is like Firefly but not as great.  Still good just not great.  After dinner Dianna had to go to work so I went to Jen's to watch The Perks of Being a Wallflower.  It was super depressing and I really just wanted to think happy thoughts after it.

After the movie I went to Dianna's work to visit her.  She works at a sleep apnea testing center and works nights.  After about an hour I was exhausted and ready to go to bed.
Sunday was church and The Amazing Race.  It was a great day.
Then today, Monday, I went to the Exploration  Park with Jen and some of the kids.  We did a little hike after a small lunch.  Stella had fun running around.
After the hike I did some yard work before showering and relaxing while watching Can't Buy Me Love.
It has been a great weekend but I am super excited that Paul is on his way home.

Valentine's Day 2013

This year I thought it would be fun to stay in for Valentine's Day and make a dinner for Paul.  With working a second job I haven't  been cooking as much so I thought it would be nice.
We invited Bo and his friend Abigail over as well.  Before they got there Paul and I exchanged gifts.  I got Paul workout underwear and a 1984 & Animal Farm combo book.  Paul got me a picture frame and a book from my childhood I had told him about.   We both loved our gifts.  They were perfect.
Once Bo and Abigail got to our house we had some appetizers while I finished up cooking.  We had freckled lemonade to drink and to eat salad, asparagus, stuffed tortellini and salmon.  Bo doesn't like salmon so I also made rotisserie cornish game hen.  It didn't cook all the way so we had to through it back in while we ate everything else.  Besides the cornish game hen everything was really good and I was impressed I was able to get everything done. Well besides the hen.

After dinner we played a few games then had dessert.  I found this apple snicker trifle.  It was super good.  I will most definitely make it again.  After dessert we ended the night with an episode of Flight of the Conchords.
It was a fun night and I was glad Paul and I were able to spend time together before he left town for the annual man trip.
