Color Run!

Saturday (February 25th 2012)  Paul, Red, Madison, and I headed downtown to Fremont for the Color Run.  This is the first year that Las Vegas has hosted the Color Run so when Red told Paul and I about it we were super excited.
The run was only a 5K and we took our sweet time. They had four color stations, yellow/green/purple/pink, where volunteers threw dry paint on you as you ran by. Some stations did a better job than others. Purple was by far the best.
Before the run started we made a rule that you had to frolic through the color stations.  Madison was too cool to do it but the rest of us did.  People thought we were crazy but that was half the fun.  Paul quickly realized that if you shouted things at the volunteers you got more paint so in the end I think he was hit the most.
After we crossed the finish line everyone was just hanging out and having a crazy paint party.  It was tons of fun and most definitely something that we would do again.  I think it would be fun if I could get the whole Jenkins Family to do it next year.
When we felt like we had had enough fun we got blown off and hopped in the car to head home. Paul and I showered up as best as we could cause we worked at the Temple that night and didn't want colored hair and skin.  Between the run and the Temple we went to Bachi Burger to meet up with Paul's "cousins" and two of their friends.  Lunch was amazing and Paul and I felt like we did a great job cleaning up after seeing them.  Overall it was a great day!

Sorry ladies... I know you will never be satisfied by another man!

Viva Amor!

For Valentines Day I came home after work to dinner just minutes from being ready to eat.  I had picked up the steaks from the store for Paul the day before but when I came home Paul had dinner ready.  Steaks, potatoes, and a garden salad.  We also had some sparkling cider left over  from Christmas that we had a sip of.  It is funny how gross that stuff is. I was really thankful for it and it was super nice not to cook and to be able to relax and eat when I got home.

After dinner I gave Paul his gift.  He is so silly that he opened it and had me take a picture before even looking at it.  Hence the fake excitement.  It took Paul a second but then he realized what it was.  It is the lyrics to our wedding song, Into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie, cut in the silloute of a tree with two hearts hanging from it.  One says P and the other says J. Just something fun to put in our room.

After dinner I headed to mutual as Paul got some homework done.  For mutual we had the girls bring a dozen cookies each and we made cards and hearts to secretley deliver to some of the less active girls in our ward.  Once we were done we broke up into two groups to deliver them.  It was a blast and the girls loved it.  They were laughing and giggling the whole time.  It was fun!
After mutual Paul and I headed to Viva Elvis at Aria.  It is one of the newer Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas. We hadn't heard great things about it but got a really good deal on the tickets so we thought it would be worth seeing for ourselves and it was.  We thought it was a really good show.  Paul even said it might be one of his favorites..  We enjoyed it and now need to bust out some of my old Elvis CD's.  Overall it was a great day and I was glad to be able to spend it with my best friend.

Why?

Why is it that we celebrate Valentines Day?  I think it is a weird day and have never really understood it.  Partically because I never was really with anyone during Valentines Day until Paul and I got married but even now after having done the whole thing with Paul I still don't really get it.  I think that one should be kind and sweet cause they want to not because it is expected. I must admit that Paul and I do celebrate.  We are going out tonight, I made him a gift, and bought him man meat, steak, for dinner but still it is an interesting thing.  Paul is such a great husband and is thoughtful so this may be part of my hang up with the day. Paul doesn't need Valentines Day to be great, he is always great!  Oh well.... I guess it gives us all an excuse to go out and have fun.  In conclusion I wish you a fabulous Valentines Day!

Deep In The Heart of Texas!

I have now been to Texas.  After years of wanting to go to Texas, after watching things such as Friday Night Lights and Whip It, I can now say I have.
Last week I went to go visit my good friend Cheryl Harden.  To the left is her with her family.  Cheryl and I became friends while attending the singles ward. We are an odd match but somehow it works.  Her husband John and I use to hang out with a lot of the same people and I actually set them up.  They have now been married for a few years and have twin boys Maverick and Brody that are about a year and a half old.  They are the cutest little things and pretty good babies.
Anyway Cheryl moved down to Texas just over a year ago so when I got the opportunity to go and visit I did.   I was there for just a few days but we had a lot of fun and got to catch up on each others lives.  While there I was able to try a few new really good restaurants and go to a clothing/accessories store that Cheryl really likes.  I got a new shirt that I love and a necklace and watch.  I need to try to wear more jewelery sometimes.  Anyway, it was a great trip and so fun to get to play with Cheryl and her two precious boys.  Hopefully I can go down there again sometime so that we can keep in touch.
The trip was great but I really missed Paul.  I think it was the longest we have been apart since we started dating.  Anyway when I came sown the escalators Paul was holding a sign that said Jolynn "Baby Face" Tatum.  When we got home there where calla lilies and girl scout cookies waiting for me.  He is so sweet and seriously the best.  All the laundry was done, dishes clean and put away, and the whole house including the floors were clean.  I am so lucky to have such a great husband.  It made coming home easy and relaxing cause I didn't feel like I needed to play catch up.  Overall it was a fabulous last few days.  Now back to the grind.
