Jelly Bean Tears!

   While we were out of town Paul and I were joking about how Pablo would be sad that we left him alone for so long. Paul and I said he would cry and his tears would turn into jelly beans!  It is from a show we use to watch called Flight of the Concords.  We both laughed for a minute and then I didn't think twice about it.

When I walked into our bedroom after our trip there where jelly beans all laid out on our bed under Pablo's face. I started busting up laughing. Paul had texted his sister and had her lay jelly beans on the bed before we got home. It was a big surprise and the jelly beans were kind of gross but it made my day!

San Francisco III

  Friday morning we got up and headed to Oakland. Whenever we are traveling if we can we try to make it to a Temple. We figure we might as well while we can cause you never know when you will be there again. We took the Bart then a bus to the bottom of a hill that the Temple was on. We literally hiked for about 3 miles up to the Temple. It was such a pretty walk and made me think of all the people who aren't as lucky as I am to have a Temple in the same city as where I live and can take my car there whenever I want. We barely made it for a session but were glad we went.
   Once back in San Francisco we had lunch then picked up pastries from a place called Beard Papa and headed to a park. We ate our pastries and took a nap in the park. It was perfect weather and so fun. After that we took a Trolley and went up to the Palace of fine Arts which is by far one of my favorite places ever. We sat and enjoyed the peace then headed down to the beach to get a "good" look at the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a bit windy by that point and made the view a little unclear. After that we headed back to the Warf so we could have some sea food. It was good but I wasn't that impressed. Mainly cause I miss all you can eat crab legs from GVR.
   Saturday morning we got up and road bikes across the bridge. All week I was worried about doing this. I am out of shape and the ride was over 8 miles so I was a bit nervous that I wouldn't make it. Once on the bike I quickly realized a big part of my fear came from the fact that I have never really ridden a nice bike before. It was heaps of fun and totally worth it. We rode down into Sausalito and spent the rest of the afternoon there eating, looking in art galleries and shops. It is a cute place and really laid back. When we were ready to go we took a ferry back to San Francisco.
   Sunday we went to the Jewish Contemporary Museum. It had an exhibit on display trees. It was really interesting and a perfect free, thanks to Bank of America, Sunday activity before having to check out. We got all packed up and headed to the airport.

   Overall it was a fabulous trip and I really loved it. I wouldn't say I left my heart there but I would most definitely visit again.

San Francisco Part II

  The next day was Paul's birthday! We went to Alcatraz. It was a really interesting experience and extremely educational. I thought the island was fabulous and worth the trip. Not to mention the best
view of San Francisco is from Alcatraz.
  After we got back from the island we decided to go to the Aquarium of the Bay. Paul ate it up. He absolutely loved it. While walking in they were offering paper crowns to the little children. I often feel as though Paul is a child so I thought it was appropriate for him to get one too. We had a lot of fun in the aquarium and enjoy a good part of our afternoon there.

  Once we got done we headed down the Pier and hung out there for awhile. We stumbled upon a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and got a yummy cheesecake caramel apple. It was fabulous and we feel in love with it! We ate a ton throughout the trip and had great food all week but the apple was one of our favorites. After awhile we headed back to Union Square for the rest of the night. We went to bed fairly early that night cause we knew we had a big day ahead of us.
 

San Francisco Part I

     Once settled in at the hotel we started to walk. We walked and walked and walked. Whenever we go on vacation we try not to really plan anything for the first night so that we can just take it all in and get an idea of the layout of the city.

   We started walking around and saw a ton just in the first day. We walked through China Town. We had lots of fun looking at all the shops and unique food. Then we headed to this awesome bookstore called City Lights that our friend had told us about. It was such a quaint little bookstore with tons of unique books as well as many classics. I felt bad because I could tell that Paul could have spent all day there if it were up to him. Anyway, I let Paul pick out a book for his birthday gift. It was hard for him to choose from all the books but after much consideration he decided to get As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner.
  After that we went to Coit Tower, Lombard Street, Fisherman's Wharf, and Ghirardelli Square. During the day we came across a street named Child that was a Dead End. I thought that was pretty funny and had to take a picture of it. We were beat by the time we had done all the sight seeing and headed back to Union Square where we were staying and went out to dinner after relaxing for a bit.

Twenty-Eight Will Be Great!

Yesterday was my birthday and it was a good one.  I know I need to post about our trip to San Francisco but it seems like a lot of work so I am procrastinating .  For lunch I went to my Nanna's house and had lunch with her.  It was fun to spend time with her and break up my work day.  When I got home from work yesterday Paul was cooking up some salmon and some of my favorite snackeroos (cream cheese/bacon/jalapenos wrapped in a biscuit).  Everything was super yummy.  Paul got me kites and scoop ball.  I am super excited about the nice whether we have been having so he got us some more fun games for outdoors.  Now we just need to bust out our croquet and bocce balls.  After mutual we headed out to see the show KA.  It was pretty interesting.  It is a gravity defying show.  It was fun and different than other Cirque Du Soleil shows but most definitely not my favorite.  It was a fabulous day and I am looking forward to this year.  It is going to be a good one!

San Francisco here we come!

   Paul turned 25 on April 5th so awhile back I knew I wanted to plan a big trip for is quarter of a century.  I loved my 25th year and wanted to make sure his stared off with a bang!  I wanted to go to Cancun but that wasn't in the budget.  I am hoping that will be our trip for Paul's graduation or even more wishful thinking Europe.
   Anyway thanks to us being ghetto and Expedia being great we found a package for the two round trip flights  and 4 nights in a hotel in Union Square for $550.  This is where the us being ghetto came in hand.  The hotel room was about 100 square feet and had a sink in it.  The bathroom and shower where shared and in the hall.  I was a bit nervous about this especially cause I am a little bit of a germ freak but it worked out great.  The shower and bathroom were super clean and were never occupied when we tried to use them.  I was pleasantly surprised.
   We flew out on Virgin Airlines early Wednesday morning.  There were only about 20 people on the flight and everything went smoothly.  We were impressed with the airplane and thought that it looked like a party was about to happen on board.  Paul played video games and I watched TV.  It was a fun fast flight.
  Once we arrived in San Francisco we took the Bart to a block from our hotel, The Mosser, which I called the Moesser all week.  We got there pretty early but they were nice enough to let us check in early.  We went up to the room and it was better than I had anticipated but it took some getting  use to.  Once we got settled we headed out.

Occupy California

The Jenkins family occupied California during Spring Break this year.  Ryan and his family went to the Los Angeles area.  Jen and her family went to the San Diego area.  And Paul and I went to San Francisco.  I thought it was pretty funny that all of us that live here were there for Spring Break.  Posts will follow shortly of our trip to San Francisco.  It was my first time there and I loved it!

Fun all weekend long!

FRIDAY: We started our weekend off by going to a ward activity on Friday night.  It was a Minute to Win It Game Night.  Our ward put a lot of work into this activity and it turned out great.  When I got there to help decorate I saw that the price for the adult winner was Gestures.  I have been wanting that game for over a year but think it is over priced so I refused to buy it, but win it that I could do!  Well.. turns out I couldn't do that either.  I got called up and had to try to get a cookie from my forehead to my mouth without touching it.  I failed and was bummed to be out of the running to win the game.  Paul got called up a few rounds later and I put the pressure on to ensure that he tried his hardest to win. He won the first and second round with no problem.  One round was putting Vaseline on your noise and getting one cotton ball at a time in another bowl until you got six.  The next round was putting pantyhose on your head with a ball at the end of one leg.  You had to lean over and try to knock down bottles of water with your "trunk".  Paul dominated in both and made it to the finals with a woman where they had to spin pennies in two liter bottles and rest them in a cup.  You had to get three going all at the same time.  Paul was a champ and won it all including the gestures!

 SATURDAY:  Paul got Saturday off so that we could watch General Conference together.  It was so nice have so much time together.  Conference was amazing as always and we loved so many of the talks.  Elder Holland delivered as always and I was super impressed with some of the quorum of the seventy speakers.  During one of the prayers I looked over to see this Paul making Pablo fold his arms and be reverent during the prayer.  I guess it is officially time to start thinking about when we want to start a family or get a dog (more or less they're the same right?) 

SUNDAY:  After conference we headed over to Ryan's for dinner to celebrate Red's and Paul's birthdays.  Before starting dinner Ryan gave us a demonstration on how to eat the Korean Barbecue that he had cooked.  He had as all gather around the table to ensure that we ate all the meat and only left the three little bones left on the plate.  We all got a kick out of it and  the meat was worth the wait!

Later that night as we waited for the Amazing Race to start, which never did thanks to the stupid CMAs, the kids put on a skit about Red turning 39.  Seth played Red and wore make up and a bra.  The other kids had thrown a surprise party for her and gave her a heart attack.  It was pretty funny but poor Seth will one day regret doing this for we will surely show his girlfriends these pictures.  The play wasn't bad but nothing beats the Easter Play they did years ago. (the color red represents the blood of Jesus) Overall it was a great weekend. We may be crazy but we have a lot of fun!
