If this is a cup and this is a cup is this a cup?

Paul and I recently started watching The Office again. It is so funny and painfully awkward. Anyway while watching I was on pinterest and saw that if you write on mugs with sharpies and bake them for a half hour at 350 degrees the marker permentatly stays on. Alison and Tyler, see previous post, gave us their old mugs years ago and we only really use them for hot chocolate in the winter so I thought why not give it a try. I had seen the couple on stuff before so thought that would be cute then Paul and I made one each for eachother. I call him doll face, in a smokers voice, all the time so I just went simple. Paul on the other hand got clever and wrote "Every sip is a kiss on the mouth" with a pair of lips at the top where I would sip. He is too cute. Anyway they are no best boss in the world mugs like Michael Scott has but I thought it was fun!

Mrs. Sister Knotek No

Tyler and Alison Knotek have been my dear friends for a few years now.

Their story began while serving their missions, which I always like to tease them about, in the Texas Lubbock Mission. Alison and I quickly became friends in 2006 shorty after I returned from my mission. (even though she dogged me the first time I tried to talk to her)  Not too much longer after that Tyler moved down to Vegas to go to school.  The three of us and a friend named Luke, not to be confused with the name Lucas, started hanging out all the time.  During that time period Alison and Tyler became more than just friends. Tyler and Alison fell in love and were married in July of 2007.

Fast forward two years and Paul entered the picture.  Alison didn't always approve of or even like the majority of guys I dated before Paul, which I later found out many agreed with her about so thank you ALI for always being honest, but Paul got the stamp of approval from both the Knoteks. Paul and I were married and bought a house in the same ward as the Knoteks cause we just couldn't get enough.  We have all been close friends ever since.

It has been so nice to have great friends that both Paul and I love.  The Knoteks have decided to move back to Texas, this time to the Austin area.  We are going to really miss them but are excited for them and their new adventure. Even though there will be more than a thousand miles between us they will always be some of our best friends.

Double Birthday All The Way!

Our good friends Diana & Jorge had a baby about a year ago.  They are an interesting family.
I have known Diana or "Bubs" as she goes by since the 1st grade.  Her and I are a like in a lot of ways.  We met her husband a year before they got married, just a few months before Paul and I.  Jorge, who is a lot like Paul in many ways, was taking the missionary discussions and came to an FHE we were having at the church with our singles ward.  It was all destino from ther on out. They started to spend more and more time together and quickly fell in love.  Shortly after they were married they got preggos with  this little guy, Keoki.
Keoki is such a happy sweet baby.  Him and Paul are buds.  Well maye I should say were best of buds.  Keoki doesn't like Paul's facial hair so they aren't as tight now.
Anyway Keoki turned one last Sunday.  The Saturday before they had a birthday for him at Bubs' parents house.  There was cake, ice-cream, a pinata, tons of food, swimming and just a good old time.  Then yesterday they had a mexican party at there house for Jorge's family, neighbors and more friends.  There was more cake, more ice-cream, 2 pinatas, tons of food an a bit of dancing.  We some how got lucky enough to get invited to both.
While getting ready for yesterdays party  Paul and I thought it would be funny to dress up like mexicans and sent Bubs and Jorge this picture.  We obviously changed as to not be offensive before actually going over.  Jorge thought it was hilarious and Bubs said we were lucky we changed cause we could have got shot.
Paul and I loved the double party all the way!

Screaming in the Rain!

Paul & I woke up from our Saturday nap, yes it is a weekly thing and if you are a parent you can be jealous, to it pouring outside.  We ran to the door and I opened it.  The wind pushed it open and a little bird was on our tiny porch unsuccessfully trying not to get wet.  Rain started to come in the house and I was scared the bird would too so I quickly shut the door.  We then ran down to the garage and opened it.  Much safer.  We ran out into the rain down to the wash where it was starting to flood.  And when I say flood I really mean just gather a bit of the rain but not much.  We ran back home and Paul stared making thunder sounds.  I thought they sounded like lightning crackling so I stated to make thunder sounds that he thought were lion sounds.  Needless to say we found ourselves screaming in the rain.  It was a blast!

Surf & Chicken Turf

Last night, thanks to my dear father-in-law, I saw Surf the Musical.  Paul is in the middle of doing jury duty so he couldn't make it but our friends Alison and Tyler came along for the ride.
It was sub-par acting and lacked the greatness I would expect with such an amazing soundtrack to back it up.  I have always had a tender place in my heart for the Beach Boys as it was one of the few things my parents listened to besides country music.
Bad wigs, real hair that looked like bad wigs, over dramatic acting, and some weird comic book alien scene left me wondering how they could go so wrong.  It is no surprised that after only six weeks the show is closing it's doors.
Now don't get me wrong.  I had fun.  Mainly reenacting it for Paul after the show but non the less I had fun.  I love free things and will eagerly go to free shows no matter how cheesy they are.
After the show Paul and I met up and went to Buffalo Wild Wings.  It was a super later dinner but sure hit the spot after a long day.  My bosses had given me a gift card a couple of weeks and it has been sponsoring our last few date nights.  It has been great but sadly ended today doing a little grocery shopping.  Anyway it made those wings even more sweet knowing we weren't paying for them.  We played the trivia game and left while in the lead.  Go team P & J!

Elder Bo Daniel Jenkins

My little brother Bo has been serving a mission in Atlanta Georgia for the last 21 months.  Most days it is not a big deal and I rarely think about him being gone but every once in awhile it just hits.  On Friday I saw this sign and that is exactly what happened.  It looks like something Bo would write.  I am glad he will be back in a couple of months because I will always be his friend but never his sister.

The Spot!

The Spot To Eat is to be taken literally.  The Spot is a food truck that is often parked on Dean Martin across the street from the Cowboy Ranch between Silverado Ranch and Pebble.
We have gone to The Spot a few times over the last few months and absolutely love it.  All the food is freshly made to order and unique foods.  We have tried quite a bit of things and have never been disappointed.
Paul's favorite is the Black & Blue Burger.  I loved the sweet potatoe fries but they have recently been changed to tots which are good but not as amazing.  Also the most recent thing we tried was a churrro wrapped in bacon.  It was interesting and I might even say good but a novelty thing you try once.
Many people shy away from food trucks but I personally think that some of the best food comes from them.  If you get a chance stop by and support these native Las Vegans while enjoying fabulous food.  We give The Spot To Eat five stars!

*Jeff & Jacquelynn this is on our list of places to go next time you're in town.
