The solution was obvious, eat at the South Point and finally try the good old fashioned Steak n' Shake. We had both heard good things about the joint so we decided to finally give it a try.
First impression was good, there was a line to get in the door, but it didn't take too long to be seated, and once we were sitting down we were transported back to the 50's. It had a great diner feel, and good ol' fashioned music playing over the speakers.
So here comes our waiter, we look at the menu, and the first thing I notice is the price, it is good news. A classic steakburger and fries are only $3.99. For a sit down joint that is just peachy. The most expensive burger was $6, I think. The downside to the price was that a milkshake cost just as much as the meal itself, in some cases it was more expensive.
Our food came out rather quickly, and let me tell you...it was quality stuff. The fries were great, especially if you sprinkled on some of the fry seasoning they had at the table, and the burgers were good. It was an excellent value and I would definitely take the trip again. The food was good and the price was great.
As for the milkshake, it was thick and tasty, totally worth the $4, we got a brownie shake and a chocolate covered strawberry shake. I would like to go back and try the nutter butter shake, they were all out while we were there. Don't forget about the really awesome hats, they just make you look sexy.
My only problem with the place is that due to their being very busy, they seemed to all be so fast paced that it felt a little rushed to me. Their goal was good food then get you out the door. I guess that's what it takes when you make people stand in line to eat at your sit down restaurant.
Go, try it, you will enjoy it. Don't let them rush you though, just eat up the experience, and the burger. Nom Nom Nom.
