Stella!

   The latest addition to our little family is Stella.  Paul works at Wells Fargo and one of his customers is moving out of state and was unable to take her dog with her.  The owner wanted to make sure her dog went to a good family and would be loved.  Paul and I have wanted and given a lot of thought to getting a dog.  Dogs are expensive even when you adopt so we decided now obviously wasn't a good time.  But when this opportunity came up we knew it was the right thing for our family.  The owner had a crate, bed, leash, treats, food and every thing you would need for a dog.  Stella is also already spayed which was really important to us and has all of her shots.  She is two and perfectly trained.   Stella is such a good dog.  We got her last Thursday and have been having fun with her ever since.  We already love her and are so happy to have her.  

The Kirkby Family

 Meet the Kirkbys.  Or at least the Kirkbys from two years ago.  I couldn't steal a more recent photo on facebook of them so this will have to do.
The Kirkbys moved into our ward at the beginning of last year.  I got to know two of their girls will serving in the Young Womens.
They recently moved out of our ward and I have been sad about it cause Paul and I felt like even though we don't have kids that we could be good friends with them.  Not only the Mom and Dad but the kids as well.
Luckily, for us, last night the person they had invited over to dinner cancelled leaving extra food.  They called and asked if Paul and I would like to join them for dinner.  Paul and I will eat free food anywhere with anyone so we kindly excepted.  After dinner we played Ticket to Ride Europe.  We had played the US version with the Isbells a few weeks ago and loved it.  Paul thinks the European one is even better.  We were able to sit around and talk for a bit and even got some yummy dessert.
It was a blast and we really do love The Kirkby Family.  They inspire us.

Crazy Weekend

 This weekend was a bit busy.  Saturday morning we took the youth in our ward out to the lake.  It was a lot of fun and good bonding time for me with a few of the girls. 
  Right when I got home I showered and Paul and I headed out the door to meet up with my family at Macayo's.  My parents were able to come into town for about 24 hours so that my father could bless my brother, Ryan,  with the office of High Priest and see him called into the Bishopric.  Macayo's was alright and Jen and I were able to get Pancho Delights so overall it was a success.
  Sunday morning we all went to church in Ryan's ward and were able to sustain him in is new calling.  Then Madison received her Young Woman's Medallion.  After church we had lunch and were able to caught up a bit more with my parents.  After lunch we headed to the stake center for Ryan to get the priesthood and set apart in his calling.  After he was set apart Ryan and Red left with Madison to receive her patriarchal blessing, my parents headed back to their mission, Jen had a meeting and Paul and I got to play with the Triplets and Zack. We played Slide 5, it is just like Category 5.
  It was a great weekend and fun to have a lot of the family together.  I am so happy and blessed to have the crazy but amazing family that I do. 

Labor Day Weekend

  Paul and I started our Labor Day weekend a little early.  I got off of work around noon and we headed out of town about an hour later.  By the afternoon we were in Hurricane enjoying Peach Days.  We got to visit with Paul's mom and brother for a little but the highlights were the free funnel cake Paul's cousin Paul made for us, which was the best I have ever had, and the old belly dancers dancing to Nickelback, who is one of the worst bands ever.  
  After Hurricane we went up the mountain and made it to the cabin before it got dark.  It was nice to have a few hours with just the Sokols before the rest of the gang showed up. It was a great weekend with lots of games, food and good times.  The new favorite game was one of the Sokol's, Category 5.  Paul and I also had Red take a few pictures of us because we haven't had any done since we got married.
  After the long weekend we headed home and stopped be McDonald's for chocolate dipped cones to break up the trip.  The play area had these cute tables and fun chairs.  Oh the joys I find in the little things. 
  Overall it was a great trip and lots of fun.  I would call it a successful Labor Day Weekend.

 

Color Me Badd

  A few days ago I found a site, http://www.dumpr.net/sketch.php,
that converts pictures into coloring pages.  I loved the idea and right away printed off two coloring pages one of Paul and one of myself. 

  That night Paul and I colored each other's pages.  It took a lot longer than I thought it would but was fun.  If we do it again and my suggestion to everyone is to choose a very simple picture with not much detail or background. 

  I love how Paul colored my picture.  I am a zombie and blood is dripping down the top of the picture.  I went a little more tame but used vibrant colors. 

  It was a fun little free night in and I highly recommend it to anyone but especially to those with kids.
