Home Means Nevada....

  Being a CCSD employee has some great perks so does working from home.  Today is Nevada Day and it was a great one.

  Paul and I decided since we both had today off we would go for a hike.  Paul worked his magic, like he always does when we want to go for a hike, and found an awesome one out at Lake Mead.  The hike is called The Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail.  Before Hoover Dam was completed, in 1935, the Railroad ran supplies and equipment down to the Dam while it was being built but once completed they took out the railroad and turned it into a nice little trial.  It was perfect for the whole family and the baby stroller even rode nice on it.


  On the trail there are 5 tunnels and if you keep going a bit more you walked past what they called a railroad boneyard with a bunch of equipment but surprisingly no trains.  I thought there would be at least one and am not going to lie I was more than a little disappointed that there wasn't.   There was also a section we walked passed that had some of the power generators that operate the Dam.  It was funny cause you could here the buzz of electricity as you walked by.  If you follow the trial all the way you end up at the overlook of the Dam.  At the overlook they have a little area with tables were you can sit and relax.  We packed a lunch that we enjoyed as we sat in the shade for a bit before heading back.

  It was a great family adventure and a good first hike for Jude.  It was a nice day and we loved being able to spend it together.  I am proud to say....  HOME MEANS NEVADA!
